I have to admit that I was super nervous for my kids starting school here. I had no idea what to expect. I can't imagine being that age and starting a new school in a new country! I am so proud of them and how well they adapt to all the moves we have made!
I didn't even know where to start. I had no idea what to do to get them enrolled in the school and since the school is only about 1/4 mile away we decided to just go to the school and ask them. My first impression - super tiny school. Then we met the Head Teacher (Principal). She came out and helped us figure out what we needed to do. We filled out about 3 papers each. (totally different from any school in the states) She said they would send them over and as soon as they approved my kids they would call and they could start. I found out that this school has preschool up to 5th grade. There are 150 kids in the whole school! That is almost as many kids as were in one of Rylan's classes in Arizona!
She then walked us around the school and showed Kyler and Delaney where their classes would be. She explained lots of stuff.
I asked what kind of supplies we would need to get. None. That's right, you read it right. No supplies. She said they supply everything. Even backpacks. No pencils, no paper, no glue, no hand sanitizer, nothing. Just themselves in their uniforms! I couldn't believe it! Pleasantly surprised.
So, off we went to get uniforms. I think they are adorable! It is so cute to see all these kids dressed in these cute little uniforms.
Rylan will go to what they call a secondary school. It is a little farther away. Actually about a 10 minute drive away. Wes took Rylan and looked around and met a few teachers. He said it was a really nice place also! We found out that Rylan would be riding a double decker bus. They don't have school busses so they use public transportation. I was a bit nervous about that but Rylan found a couple friends in our village and they have made sure he feels comfortable. I don't think he would ever admit it but I think he likes school!
His uniform is a bit different than the other kids. He has to wear a white dress shirt, a striped tie (the school colours) a black v-neck sweater, dress pants, dress shoes and a blazer with the school logo patch sewn on the breast pocket. He looks so handsome! He says he doesn't like it, but I think he really does. He looks like Harry Potter!
I almost forgot - the kids get 1 1/2 hours for lunch. It seemed a bit crazy to me but they have clubs that they do during lunch and after school. Anything you can think of they have a club for. Gardening, dance, Judo, football (soccer), rugby, board games, etc. The kids love it! It doesn't cost anything and they get to learn about and play whatever they want! Kyler especially loves it because he is learning new sports and playing everything he can! He is for sure an athlete. He is such a happy boy! Delaney is so excited about dance and board games. She is always happy. Rylan is so excited to have friends that share his love of books, legos and Star Wars!
Here is Kyler on his first day of school!
What a handsome boy!
And my beautiful Delaney!
Here she is in front of the school.
Here is Rylan. His uniform is a bit different but just as handsome!
Kinda GQ, don't you think?!
Here is Kyler and Delaney's school.
My beautiful Delaney.

I am enjoying reading all of your new posts. I sure hope you are all adjusting well. Keep them coming.
WOWOWWOWOW. Never mind about the question I asked a few blogs up. I get it now. They look SOOO sharp. way better uniforms than Khaki pants and polos. Rylan looks so grown up. How cool about all the clubs that they do during lunch time. What is wrong with the US's school system?
